Really I’m just another aging geek who is interested in photography and travel, often and together. Statrix, the name of this blog and domain, is short for Statistical Tricks and was originally the name of a business I tried to put together several years ago. The business never went anywhere, but the name stuck. Now I use it all over the place and several statrix domains – .com, .org, and .net. I do note that statrix.de is taken. 🙂
I’ve lived in a variety of locales from New York to Borneo, Montana to Wisconsin, but mostly Honolulu where I’ve lived both as an adult and a child, but not as a teen.
I’ve been using computers since I was a child, starting around 1970 as I recall. The first I ever used was interactive yellow-paper teletype machine hooked to something with less memory than my watch. The University of Hawai’i at Manoa had installed them in a number of departments throughout the university. After school I’d walk to the campus to get a ride from my folks but since there was time to kill my mom told me to go play on the terminal which no one else was using at the time. I’m forever grateful for that experience.
I never pursued tech in school or as career, but I kept playing with computers throughout high school, college, and as a hobby. The first electronic computer I ever owned as a Timex-Sinclair I got around 1980 as gift from my father.
Aloha and thanks for visiting!
Oh yeah, I almost forgot…
This site is in no way affliated with the Statrix WordPress Plugin, however we are flattered that other folks love the name Statrix. I’ve put links to the plugin and the author’s blog in the sidebar. I can’t say much about the author other than she seems like a nice person and is apparently a lot brighter than I am…I couldn’t have written the plugin. 🙂 She lives in Sofia Bulgaria and I’m still waiting to hear if she’ll give me a tour of the city should I ever show up. 🙂
